Best time to visit Guadalajara with blue skies over the city centre

Best time to visit Guadalajara (temperature, events, price)

Guadalajara is one of the biggest cities in Mexico and a cultural hotspot of the country. It’s a city filled with cultural heritage, and it has a lot to offer to people who want to experience authentic Mexican culture. It was also the city that my sister picked to study in for half a year when she wanted to study abroad. If you are thinking about visiting Guadalajara, you might want to know when is the best time to visit Guadalajara.

The best time to visit Guadalajara for nice weather

The fall is the best time to visit Guadalajara, specifically the months from October to December. Guadalajara can be incredibly warm during other months of the year, and also – just like other places in Mexico – has a rainy season. In the months from October to December, the weather is the best. It’s not too warm, and the temperature is slightly under 30 degrees Celsius or in the mid-80s (for American readers). It’s also quite dry during this time of the year. Which why for many people this is the perfect time to visit Guadalajara.

The best time to visit Guadalajara for events

Guadalajara is one of the cultural hotspots of Mexico, so it also has some great events. Here, also, it is recommended to go between the months of October and December. As there are some great events on the calendar. These are some of the events that are held in Guadalajara, between October and December:

  • Dia de la Virgen de Zapopan (October)
  • Fiestas de Octubre (October)
  • Revolution Day (November)
  • Guadalajara International Book Fair (November)
  • Virgin of Guadalupe’s Feast Day (December)

You can see there is enough to do in Guadalajara. Especially the book fair is an event of a lifetime, as it is the biggest book fair in the Americas and the second-biggest book fair in the world.

Best time to visit Guadalajara for cheaper prices

There are two times of the year when Guadalajara is not as expensive. One is between January and May, as the average temperature in these months can take quite a dip. Around these months there are also some great discounts on hotels and Airbnb as not a lot of people tend to come during these months. When you visit between these months, just make sure that you have some extra blankets with you. Guadalajara can become cold at night, and speaking from my own experience, a heater in Mexico is quite rare.

Another good time to come to Guadalajara is between the months of June and September. Guadalajara is one of the most expensive cities in Mexico, and between June and September, there is a rain season. Because of the lack of tourism, a lot of hotels go down in their price.

It’s always a good time to visit Guadalajara

To be honest, if you are thinking of going to Guadalajara, you should just book your trip. Guadalajara is an amazing city with lots of things to do, from cultural events to cool parties. It is not even that far away from the beach. You won’t regret booking your trip to Guadalajara, even though it might not be the best time to visit Guadalajara, weatherwise or event-wise.
