This is our honest review of Anne & Max Boutique Hotel Utrecht, what we liked and what we liked a little bit less about staying at this beautiful boutique hotel.

Also, our apologies for the low-quality pictures; we forgot to take them and had to use screenshots from a video we made.

Location of Anne & Max Boutique Hotel Utrecht

One of the most critical parts of a boutique hotel is its location. This is especially important if you are going on a city trip, and Utrecht is one of those cities that is famous for its city trips. You probably won’t spend more than a day or two in the fourth-biggest city in the Netherlands.

Well, you are in luck. Anne & Max Boutique Hotel Utrecht is one of the best locations in the city. When you leave the train station, it is just about 10 minutes walking, and it is a stone’s throw away from the famous Domtoren in Utrecht, which is in the middle of the center. It is hard to miss this place, as it also has a coffee shop, lunch spot, and restaurant in the hotel, which is filled with people from the morning until the evening.

However, don’t get confused; there is also an Anne & Max on the Burgemeester Reigerstraat 15. This is not the hotel; this is a restaurant owned by the same owner. If you are looking for the Anne & Max boutique hotel, go to the Domkwartier.

Amenities at Anne & Max Boutique Hotel Utrecht

If you are looking for many amenities, this might not be the best place. As we alluded to before, this hotel has a nice restaurant and coffee shop underneath it, but that is about it. The boutique hotel does have everything you need in your room. Rooms come with a fantastic shower; some even come with a bathtub. Furthermore, the rooms also have a private desk, if you still need to work while staying here.

How much does Anne & Max Boutique Hotel Utrecht cost?

The Anne & Max Boutique Hotel Utrecht costs are more than reasonable. We all know that the Netherlands is not the cheapest country in the world, especially in the center of one of the most historic cities in the country. It is also next to Utrecht’s most famous monument, so it can not be that cheap. However, the Anne & Max Boutique Hotel is priced quite decent.

A standard room in the Boutique hotel will cost around €150, or around $160, while the deluxe suite will cost around $175. Some rooms can also include a delicious breakfast because the restaurant is directly underneath them. Prices will also differ by season and can fluctuate quite a lot. You can expect to pay a minimum of $160 for a cheaper room in the off-season, such as February; the high season, such as June, can even set you back $450 per night. We don’t think this is worth it, so it might be better to look for something else in these seasons.

However, you also need to pay an extra, which will set you back an average of $30 to $50 extra. Although the breakfast must be good, we chose to have our breakfast and lunch in other places in Utrecht, as there are many different places where you can get a bite. We recommend that you do the same when you visit Utrecht.

Price quality comparison

Although you get a lot of good things for the price included in Anne & Max Boutique Hotel, some things could be better. I can imagine that many people don’t want to work on a city trip, but sometimes, when you are traveling full-time like us, there is a moment when you have to respond to work messages. The WiFi was good enough to answer essential messages but not good enough to work on.

Furthermore, we are aware that many people love their memory foam mattresses. However, many people can not sleep on them because of back issues. If no other option exists and the mattress is this soft, getting harder mattresses might also be a good option.

The boutique hotel is absolutely beautiful, and in the right season, you get a good deal for your price. The interior is gorgeous and well-designed, and the rooms are also big enough, giving you enough space to relax after strolling through the beautiful city of Utrecht.

The rooms in Anne & Max Boutique Hotel Utrecht

We went for the deluxe suite when we visited this beautiful boutique hotel. This is a lovely suite with a big bed, a shower, a desk, and a bathtub in your room. The room also comes with a flat-screen TV and oversized box-spring bedding. The bed is also extra long. As you might know, the Dutch are the tallest people on earth, so it is handy that the beds are longer than 6.5 Inches (2 meters). Furthermore, the rooms are equipped with beautiful parquet floors, and it also has an iron if you have an important appointment or date the next day.

WiFi Speed

The WiFi speed was not extremely bad, but it was far from good. It might even be too slow for people who work remotely and want to have meetings. I did my work in the evening when we stayed here but had trouble loading some software. At some point, I even had to use my phone hotspot on my mobile data to make it work.

Comfort

As we mentioned, Anne & Max Boutique Hotel does have some fantastic beds. However, this is mainly for people who like soft beds. Aemilius had many back problems and couldn’t sleep on this bed because it was too soft. We even asked the staff (who were very nice) if they had another mattress, but they did not. It was so soft that he couldn’t sleep on it. Eventually, we found an extra mat for a made-up bed. Safe to say, Aemilius didn’t have the best night of sleep.

Conclusion of our Anne & Max Boutique Hotel Utrecht Review

Let’s conclude our review of Anne & Max Boutique Hotel Utrecht. The hotel is beautiful, but some things can be improved. Overall, we had a lovely stay and enjoyed the giant bathtub in our room, one of the extras this boutique hotel can offer that many other hotels in Utrecht simply can not. The room itself was beautiful, and the boutique hotel is worth it, but only if you book in the off-season because the prices in the high season can sometimes be ridiculous.
