The complete Marriott Tirana Review

After we stayed in the Netherlands for about a month, Aemilius and I decided to spend the winter in Albania. Why would you want to spend a winter in the rain if you can also spend it on the Mediterranean coast?

We decided to fly to Albania and spend a month in Saranda, followed by two weeks in Dürres, before flying back for Christmas to spend the holidays in The Netherlands with Aemilius’ family.

However, before we went to Saranda, we wanted to enjoy Tirana for two days. We spent these two days at the Marriott in Tirana; this is my honest Marriott Tirana review.

Marriott Tirana location

When you land at the Tirana International Airport, you can take a taxi to the center of Tirana. In about 30 minutes, you arrive at the Marriot. From the Marriott in Tirana, it takes about ten to twenty minutes to walk to Skanderbeg Square, one of Tirana’s most famous landmarks.

Alternatively, you can ask the taxi driver to take you to the AirAlbania stadium, a hypermodern soccer stadium built in the center. One of the many reasons people want to visit this Marriott is that you can see the soccer pitch from most of the rooms. Our room also had a view of the soccer pitch. The national soccer team of Albania plays at this hypermodern stadium, which was built in 2019.

The hotel is near the Polytechnical University of Tirana and is only a short walk from most of Tirana’s historic landmarks. It should only take you about 10 to 20 minutes to get to each one. Furthermore, you don’t have to walk that far if you want to have dinner or a drink. There are a lot of restaurants and bars directly underneath the stadium.

Marriott Tirana amenities

The Marriott in Tirana has many amenities you can expect from any Marriott. This Marriott has meeting rooms so you can take your work calls into the hotel, a beautiful restaurant, and a fantastic fitness center, where you can even get a message if you need to relieve some stress. Furthermore, the hotel has a massive seating area at the reception where you can relax or wait for someone. You can also let your suits get dry cleaned at this Marriott if you are in town for an important business trip.

Price to quality comparison

Luckily, we didn’t have to pay that much to stay at the Marriott in Tirana for two days. Aemilius used his points from his Revolut Ultra Subscription to get a hefty discount. We only paid $251 for two days. However, booking with Booking at the Marriott in Tirana will cost you anywhere between $200 and $1200 per night, depending on the room and the season.

For us, the price and points we spent for two days at the Marriott in Tirana were definitely worth it. The location was top-notch, the staff was friendly, and there were more than enough amenities. Furthermore, the views over the soccer pitch from the hotel room were amazing!

However, because we were only in Tirana for two days, we didn’t see the hotel that much, as we wanted to explore everything we could in the short time we had there. So if you are staying longer in Tirana and can enjoy the hotel a bit longer, I think it is worth it. If you are only spending a few days in Tirana, booking a hotel that is a bit cheaper might be smarter.

Quality of staff in Marriott Tirana

This is one of the most amazing perks at the Marriott. The staff was terrific. When we arrived, the receptionist already had a complete list of recommendations. He told us what to visit in Tirana and where to go for a good pizza or fantastic traditional food there. He had a list ready with landmarks and even day trips from Tirana. Before we checked out on our last day, the other receptionist ensured we could get a good taxi from Tirana to Saranda.

How is the room in Marriott Tirana

The room in our stay was terrific. It was spacious and had an excellent desk to work on, a big television, and fantastic lighting. Furthermore, the shower and the rest of the bathroom were also really lovely. The room also had a big smart TV to connect with your phone or watch television. Luckily, we also had a room with a view over the soccer pitch I mentioned earlier in this Marriott Tirana review.

How good is the WiFi in the Marriott in Tirana

Like many other traditional luxury hotels, the Marriott in Tirana’s WiFi is not the best. The download speed didn’t exceed 5 MB per second, and the upload speed barely touched 1MB per second. You can, however, pay extra at the reception to get better WiFi, but we mostly used our mobile data to get better internet speed. Luckily, this hotel has enough reception to get you strong mobile data.

Overall review of Marriott in Tirana

The Marriott in Tirana is a near-perfect place to stay when traveling to Albania’s capital and biggest city. Marriott offers all the luxury you expect for this price range and even has some extra amenities. This is a fantastic hotel, especially for people who love sports, as you get a view of the stadium and soccer pitch. Book the Marriott in Tirana when the Albanian national team plays, and you will see them play outside your hotel window. As you can tell from this Marriott Tirana review, we had a lovely time in this beautiful luxury hotel.
