The Estonian capital, Tallinn has been named the best city for remote workers. This is according to a ranking by Big 7 Travel.

Tallinn was ranked number one on the list. A big help in achieving this ranking is its digital nomad visa. Workers are allowed to work in Estonia for a year if they meet the criteria.

The top 50 list of Big 7 travel also mentioned the booming economy of the Baltic state. This, in combination with the low cost of living compared to other cities, made Tallinn get on top of the list.

Rent in the city center costs only around $500 per month. Compare this with cities like Amsterdam ($2000 per month), London ($2700 per month), and Lisbon ($1400 per month), and it is clear to see why the Estonian Capital is rated so high.

At number two comes the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi. During the pandemic, the country also introduced a remote worker visa.

The cities and places that came in third, fourth, and fifth were Belgrade, Serbia, Bali in Indonesia, and Chiang Mai in Thailand.

No single city in the United States or the United Kingdom made the list. Other popular destinations on the list include Berlin, Playa Del Carmen, and Tokyo.

According to Big 7 Travel, the list is based on internet access, coworking spaces, affordability and remote-friendly communities. It has also taken into account that the city has a specific digital nomad visa.

There are a number of countries that have launched digital nomad and remote worker visas over the past years. A lot of them have launched visas specifically for remote workers and digital nomads during the pandemic.
