The tiny beach town, Tulum, surrounded by Mayan Ruins, is about to welcome its first non-stop flights from the US.

In the last decade, Tulum has exploded as a popular destination for Americans. It is now one of the most in-demand places to visit in Mexico.

Tulum was at one point a place filled with boutique hotels and retreats. Now it is a development hotspot. Hilton and Marriott have already entered the Tulum market. Besides that, there are also a lot of development projects in the area.

However, the biggest development project that has happened recently is the brand-new international airport. The airport opened on the first of December in 2023, and will now begin welcoming international flights from the United States.

Currently, the airport is only handling domestic flights from airlines such as Viva and Aeromexico.

In the next couple of weeks, Major airlines from the US will start operating new flights. This will help tourists avoid the two-hour trip between Cancun and Tulum.

The American carriers that will carry out these flights are none other than Delta, Spirit, United, American, and JetBlue. The first flights are scheduled to leave the United States on March 28, 2024.

Some of the cities that the carriers will start flying from to Tulum are; Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Charlotte, and Dallas-Forth Worth.

On March 31st, United Airlines will start flying from Newark, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Houston.

In June, JetBlue will start service out of New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.
